Solar Powered Sun Destroyer
Paramount Styles
Black Cat
After I'd watched enough of the debate to see Joe the Plumber mentioned a couple of times, I headed over to ye olde Black Cat for the show. It was a strangely quiet night with hardly anyone in the Red Room (although I did overhear this girl complaining that some one was sitting on "her" barstool, where she "always sits," thereby reaffirming my long-standing feelings about the BC).
SPSD was without their bass player so they did a rather subdued set without him. My main observation from this show was that they need more songs. I can't believe after 8 years, 5 months, and 2 days of living in this city I have finally found a local band that I enjoy (other than Verbal, of course). The fact that they got their name from a grindcore song only makes me like them more.
Paramount Styles I don't know much about - they're from NYC and at least one of them was in Girls Against Boys. It was not really my thing but I thought it was good - I like that guy's voice anyway. It was kind of sad that there were so few people there but then again it was debate-night Wednesday in DC in the back room of the Black Cat.
Final observation: I need to start dressing better. I need some kind of signature ensemble other than a 3 Inches of Blood hoodie.
