Threat Signal
Bleed the Sky
The Destro
Gigan
Jaxx
So, uh, I watched Gigan. They had a theremin and a lot of stage fog. And stuff. I really do love Godzilla though...
After the first band I was a little scared as to how the rest of the show would go. I listen to Threat Signal probably once a week (usually on my way to work, so the fact that I even remember they exist at that time of day is a credit to them) and I wasn't worried about them, but I hadn't even looked at the list of other bands who were scheduled. But I actually really enjoyed The Destro since I like screaming and big bearded dudes. They kind of reminded me of The Black Dahlia Murder, but they have more going for them than just a hott stomach tat. Although I think that "The Destro" is one of the worst band names I've heard recently. It tells you nothing about the band at all and gives you no clue as to what they might sound like. I've been trying to think of the best band names that I've heard (Billy Club Sandwich!) and I'm pretty much settled on Ripped Off Face. I think "Ripped Off Face" tells you a lot about the band and gives you a pretty good clue as to what they might sound like. Plus it doesn't start with "The" which is a huge plus. Anyway, I'll probably check out The Destro in the future but I will probably still cringe at their name.
After that, Oklahomans Bleed the Sky. Now of course I don't believe Oklahoma actually exists but whereever these guys were from they're definitely into metal. And hair farming. And beards. They were not really my thing (with the possible exception of the bass player) but I would probably watch them again. I'm sure they'll be back at Jaxx because it seemed like everyone else there was really into them.
Then (finally) my other favorite Canadios, Threat Signal. According to their frequent myspace updates, they've been working on new material for the last few months. The new songs reminded me less of Soilwork (and/or Linkin Park) than the older stuff and I thought it was really good. Can't wait for a new album and tour from these guys. Hopefully more than 12 people will show up.
