Helloween
Gamma Ray
Rams Head Live!

Despite my pure hatred for the Rams Head and their unevenly enforced door policies (why could I have my carabiner keychain at a sold-out show on Sunday night but not at a metal show with 100 people on Tuesday? Why all the "no photography/no video" signs if you're only going to tell one guy in the crowd not to do it?) I went back to Baltimore for this show. Also, there were conflicting reports on when doors were (my ticket said 6, website said 7, signs at the show said music was at 7). At any rate, after going back to the car three times before finally being allowed in, Gamma Ray was already playing to the small crowd (in the downstairs only - the upstairs was closed and there were no barstools anywhere - unlike Sunday when there were plenty of seats).
Gamma Ray sounded good and played for a pretty long time. I guess it's a full dual-headlining tour. The crowd was really into them and they had some funny stage banter.
It seemed like it took forever for Helloween to finally come out (even after the roadies signaled the sound guy). I thought it was interesting that they opened with Halloween, but I suppose that's the best choice to work the crowd up. Their set of old and new songs was interspersed with German lessons, though of course I've forgotten everything now. The drummer is freakin amazing. I won't write any spoilers but I will say that the last half of the show was crazy and silly.
