Funeral for a Friend
Sonar
Photos!!!

My second time at Sonar this weekend. It's a pretty cool place - this time I had a chance to check out both the lounge and club stage (where it was industrial night).

I only caught the last few songs of Anberlin's set. As you know, I do like Anberlin but I thought they sounded terrible. I don't know if it was an off-night or the club or what. Stephen's voice sounded different on every song (bad different) and there were some feedback issues too. They do however prove JS's point about hot Christian girls, since they were surrounded by them at the bar and their bus.

I didn't realize how much I missed Funeral for a Friend until they took the stage. Aw, I missed those guys. It seemed to me there were a few sound problems during their set too, but I wasn't put off by it since I was busy rockin out, singing along, and snapping photos. I finally got a shot of Garreth where he doesn't look stoned (see Seattle photos). Anyway, they played about 50/50 new/old stuff and all heavier songs. Remember when I saw their video when I was in Jordan? Aw.

I didn't watch much of the big headliners Story of the Year because I was listening to industrial music in the club stage. I did manage to catch a medley of [mostly] 80's cover songs which was very weird and included Guns 'n' Roses, Twisted Sister, Pat Benatar, and Bon Jovi. Like 10 bars of each. They sure do a lot of stage climbing and back flipping and stuff. I asked Darran if Funeral will be appropriating SotY stage moves for their December headlining tour... The first time I ever heard of/saw SotY was at Warped Tour 2003 because they played right before Coheed. I was impressed by them enough to pick up their first album, but I got sick of it pretty quick. These type of songs just don't hold up for me and a lot of it seems gimmicky (ala Sum 41).

There's a mosquito population in the car now...I have about a half dozen bites...so itchy...
