First time I've been back to Philly for a show since July. Had dinner out (Burmese) with cousin R and family. Baby is getting big (8 mos) - he was standing up on his own when I walked in the door. Last time he was just starting to push himself up with his arms and could only roll over on one side.

Got to TLA some time before Turbonegro came on so I picked up my ticket and went back to the car to put on my 'Happy Tom' make-up (blue eyeshadow and sparklies and pink lipstick). I can't figure out how many people TLA holds but it was definitely not a sold-out show (neither was Baltimore...weird).
Anyway, there were some Turbojugend there from Oslo and from Berlin. Ah, crossing an ocean to see a band: the final frontier. I would actually love to see Turbonegro in either Norway or Germany. Those shows must be insane - huge outdoor crowds full of crazy super fans. Not like a Philly with a bunch of confused/amused hipsters standing around the fringes. Not that there weren't a good number of uniform-wearing/card-carrying Turbojugend there (even saw a Baltimore city jacket) but there were quite a few people there who were just gawkers. [I can't really criticize too much though because I've gone to see several bands based on name alone: Billy Club Sandwich, Assrockers, etc.]
Same set list as Friday. I could see a lot better because TLA has a balcony and the main floor is sloped. I was still sweating like crazy though - I think it's my fancy new jacket - that thing is hot. This time I managed to snag a big stack of zillion dollar bills - now I've got Hank and Pol Pot Pamparius. I guess Euroboy and Rune Rebellion either don't have their faces on currency or they spit out the other side or something (I didn't even see any though).
This time I got some video of the Norwegian lesson, so ask me if you want to see it (file is 200MB).
Not much else to report. I almost got hit by a semi on the way home but fortunately there was nothing next to me so I was able to swerve (All I saw was a big green truck fender in the passenger's window getting closer and closer).
Since Turbonegro probably won't be back for a while (or if you missed it), check out Happy Tom's death-punk side project: SCUM
