Darkest Hour
A Life Once Lost
Misery Index
Ottobar

I had planned to get there early for a prime spot by the door and because I really did want to see all the bands. I took a nap and still had plenty of time and then got totally sucked into Dateline Friday (the guy was found guilty!) and got there late. So I missed Versus the Mirror and From a Second Story Window (which was the main band I wanted to see, D'oh! I only saw them before through the window between rooms at KC's in Fredericksburg).

Even though Misery Index plays Ottobar all the time (one of them works there) this was the first time I'd actually seen them. It was good. I did find some of the hardcore dancing that was going on pretty annoying since, you know, it's death metal. Whatever.

This was also the first time I actually watched A Life Once Lost. I always thought they were a hardcore band, but in fact, they are not. I also thought they were from Boston or something, while they are, in fact, from PA (the singer was wearing a Lock Haven shirt on stage). The bass player reminded me of Billy but it might have just been the hat. Anyway, I'm sorry I never watched them before because it was fucking awesome. I will be sure to catch them in the future.

Then finally DC's own Darkest Hour. The crowd had thinned out some after ALOL, so people were more free to mosh and stage dive and shove past me, grabbing my camera (lens was open) and almost yanking it out of my hand. Yes - I'm talking about this asshole in the plaid shirt pictured here. Fucker. Some other kid kept doing asshole stage dives - jumping up and then face-first into the crowd. Most of the time people caught him - a couple people didn't get caught and a few people got hit in the face pretty hard - two people were helped out of the club. Uh, musically it was great. Paul is cute. The end.
