Bullet for My Valentine
Walls of Jericho
Roses are Red
Recher Theatre, Towson MD
PHOTOS!!!

Yay! This was an awesome show for several reasons, not least of which was because I'm (mostly) not sick anymore. Plus, as I'd hoped, I got to see BFMV and take pictures. The Recher is actually a pretty nice venue - this was only my 3rd time there (last time was the infamouse 3IoB show and yes I did go to 7-11 and get the same thing purchased by JH when I went there with him...does that make me more of a stalker?). The sound in the Recher is good, even though the security is kind of incompetent. The purple drapes still remind me of some elementary school cafetorium though.

So this was the 'Trustkill Takeover Tour', which, eh. You will recall that my feelings towards Trustkill are pretty love (MPB, Hopesfall)/hate (mostly Eighteen Visions, mostly). I did pull out an old sampler to check out Roses are Red and I liked the song that was on there. I get that they're also on Trustkill but they didn't really fit into this tour very well...the audience being primarily drunk metalheads. To those two hecklers who kept yelling that RaR are a bunch of "cocksuckers who like to suck cock" I say: Takes one to know one (because, seriously, there was some repressed homosexuality going on there). To the guy who yelled "stop wearing your sister's pants to shows": ooh, so close. The correct line would be "Your sister wants her pants back, douche." I thought their music was OK but I couldn't look at the singer because he had a very creepy Ace Young vibe. *shudder*

The only thing I really knew about Walls of Jericho was that they're Alexei (3IoB)'s old band. And they have a chick...and a skinny xstraightedgex guy...and a fat dude....and a beardo...so they basically have it all. They're a more 'traditional' TK hardcore band. Not only were they 100x more interesting to watch that RaR, they also got the crowd pretty worked up. Take note that Candace will kick your ass while wearing pigtails and a miniskirt.

And then, Bullet finally took the stage. I was pretty close to the front and next to the wall, so I could steady my arm for photography, while (hopefully) not blocking anyone's view (a good portion of my photos feature somebody right in front holding up their camera). This is exactly what I bought the camera for - long distance, over-the-crowd photography that still comes out decent. And of course, after last fall's fiasco, I was armed with 1) fresh batteries 2) back-up camera and 3)cell phone camera, in case of emergency. I took about 150 photos, many of which look pretty much the same. I really wish BFMV had a drum-riser though because I have almost no photos of Moose. Anyway, it's a good thing I decided against the leek-helmet because it was getting really hot and steamy in the club. I seriously thought I was going to have to stab this one fat dude who was like a fucking furnace with elbows. Gross. These poor little girls in front of me almost got run over by him too. Ass. Oh yeah, so Bullet played almost all of their songs (I mean they only have 19 recorded songs that I know of, including a Pantera cover on the most recent Metal Hammer Razor comp). Much like last fall, Matt said he wasn't feeling well but you never would have guessed by the performance he gave. Unlike that show, there were several hundred people there who knew every word to every song. One can only hope that they will achieve tremendous success on both sides of the Atlantic and that none of us has to listen to Nickelback on the radio ever again.
5 Stars
