Review: Coheed & Cambria 4/11/06

#13 of the year (29th Coheed show)
Tuesday, April 11, 2006
Coheed & Cambria
Avenged Sevenfold
Head Automatica
Old Dominion University Convocation Center

So, this one was a lot like the 22nd and 26th in the sense that we were stranded outside for a while and I was forced to call Kwame as an absolute last resort [Kwame is THE MAN in case you haven't heard]. Luckily, my now good friend Gentleman Jim came out and helped us get into the show. We managed to miss Head Automatica (about whom I know nothing) and Avenged Sevenfold (whom I will admit to liking, once, for about a month, but currently can't stand). GJ called them "posers, fucking posers."

The venue was huge - it has to be the biggest venue I've seen Coheed in so far. Sadly, it was only about half-full. Anyway, we stood right next to the sound and light booths at the back of the general admission area and had a pretty good view and the sound was great from there too. They have a pretty big set (see photo) with a fence, lamp posts, the guillotine is back, animated projections, things that drop from the ceiling. Pretty cool.

Highlights: a bear-hug from Chooch (how many shots did he have?) The Crowing (!) Time Consumer (!!) Claudio playing the guitar with the fence (!!!)
