The Black Dahlia Murder
Throwdown
Ottobar

I think I'm destined to never see The Red Chord - all the times they've been on the bill I've either missed them (by showing up too late) or they missed me (by not showing up at all). I guess they broke down somewhere?

But, for the first time I actually enjoyed Throwdown. Maybe it was because now I know all their songs or because the crowd was really into their set? Nah...it was probably because all I could see was the shirtless drummer and shirtless singer (I do enjoy Throwdown's albums after all) and because there was a low risk of being kicked in the face. Plus the drummer kept getting up and yelling stuff throughout the set. [my love of people who yell at the crowd is renowned] The crowd was really into it - even one person in the balcony sat there making the 'X' sign with their forearms the whole time. I thought their best song was the one about that dead guy, though.

I think this was my second viewing of The Black Dahlia Murder. I think they've lost some weight. Also, some of you may be interested to know that The Red Chord's drummer was playing with BDM on this tour because BDM's drummer is a Canadian citizen and wasn't allowed to enter the US without a work permit. Anyway, even with the fill-in drummer they managed to cover most of the material on their two albums. They seemed to be having a really good time, as was the crowd. I still get confused when I see sorority-type girls stage diving at metal shows, but...go with the flow, I guess. The big closer was of course 'Funeral Thirst' - Metal Blade bands, represent!
