Review: The Sword 5.15.2008

The Sword
Torche
Rock & Roll Hotel

I wish I had been in a better mood - all the assholes at this show might have pissed me off less. I did get an excellent parking space right across the street from the club (by doing the DC thang and making a U-turn across two lanes of oncoming traffic into the space). The door guy was super careful/OCD about putting on the wristband, so it wasn't stuck to my wrist at all. And I had a pretty good view of the bands. I had a moment though with Torche because I didn't know who they were and I only know one song by The Sword. My friend's wife does this all the time - she thinks every band is the one they're at the club to see and can't tell the difference between any of them, even if the music is totally different that what she was expecting. Torche kinda reminded me of The Melvins and although it was not my thing (at all) they had a great set.
All I kept thinking of during The Sword was this quote from The Simpsons. Anyway, I enjoyed their set overall, even though I was irritated by everyone and everything at the club and that ass who spit beer on everyone (same guy from the Turbojugend party that I seem to see everywhere now). I also saw that one dude who was taking photos at The Meatmen show with the shaved head and beard who is probably somebody important but I don't know who he is. I don't actually have anything to say about The Sword's music except that they rocked.
