Review: Exodus 2.2.2008

Exodus
Goatwhore
Arsis
Warbringer
Jaxx

The entirety of this show must have been about 8 hours - the doors were at 4pm and they had about 6 local bands playing. Of course, I had to work until 8:30 so I didn't get there until around 9pm when Warbringer was on stage already. I probably saw most of their set and I thought it had the potential to be really good. Perhaps in another setting (more drinking, fewer annoying hos) I would have enjoyed it more. I did pick up their debut album (out 2/5) and I think it's really good - old skool thrash from some kids who were not born when said old skool was happening. And one of the songs is about sharks.
I don't think I knew anything about Arsis, but I thought they were good. It seemed like they only played for about 20 minutes though.
The only thing I remembered about Goatwhore was that it was really loud. And so it was. They put on a good show and engaged the audience better than the other bands.
Finally, around midnight, Exodus came out. The only other time I went to an Exodus show, I spent all my time hanging around with 3IoB so I didn't actually watch Exodus. They put on a good show, even though they kept yelling at the crowd for being tired. Apparently they have stolen Ross the Boss from 3IoB since he's now their merch guy/tour manager. Interesting.

Yeah!...

Arsis are amazing live with their super-technical weirdness - if anyone knows anything about the bassist, do tell. He seems like a refugee from some jazz band and is the only metal bassist (other than me - I am NOT counting Kip Winger) I've seen use a Washburn.

The last time I saw Goatwhore was with 1349 back in April and they played "Invert the Virgin" which is my favorite, favorite song of theirs...

I've never seen Exodus, so I cannot WAIT until you see this show again with me!!!
