Northern State
Bitch & the Exciting Conclusion
Natalie E Illum
Black Cat

Hey, I finally made it to one of Natalie's performances! Cool! Anyway, Natalie opened the show with her poetry for a pretty large crowd on a Monday night in smokeless DC. [the Black Cat is weird without all the smokers. Ms A said it seemed like people were just waiting around for something to happen]
Up second was Bitch & the Exciting Conclusion. Not really my thing but very enjoyable nonetheless. It was good that my coworker was familiar with the music, so I could participate in 'Pussy Manifesto'. After the show we told Bitch that she needs to make it a ringtone. Seriously.
Oh and she plays the electric fiddle. The (female) drummer was pretty awesome too. Some of the ladies standing behind us were yelling that the drummer should 'play naked!' [note to self: use similar heckling in future]
Last, a too-short set by female hip-hop crew Northern State. When they mentioned that they used to be on Columbia Records, I remembered that it was a free cd I got with a Coheed purchase that had introduced me to NS. In addition to being discovered by DJ Adrock, they are like a female version of the Beastie Boys. Very fun show but it was too short and I hope to check them out again in the future.
