the Blood Brothers
9:30 Club

Ah, yet another band breaks my 5-show curse (after I've seen a band 5 times, I either become completely obsessed or never see them again) and I saw the Blood Brothers 5 times with Coheed last fall. Then they were in the studio for quite a while and this is their first time out on tour again. Major updates - Jordan dyed his hair blond and Johnny looks like he's eaten some protein in the last year; Marc's playing a sparkly rainbow snare, Morgan has a giant beard and Cody just pretty much looks the same, though he was not stuck back in a corner of the stage like before. Unfortunately Gabe isn't out with them this time :-(
They played quite a number of new songs and about half of last year's 'Crimes'. I was surprised that there weren't more people at the show (since they tour so rarely) but the group up front with me was pretty enthusiastic. Truly, the Blood Brothers are a band people either love or hate - once their set was over and I was leaving people were coming in for ...and you will know us by the trail of dead... (...I don't know where the ellipses go...) I overheard some woman saying 'Thank god that's finally over' and outside there were a couple guys complaining about how it would have been great if they were deaf.
