Bouncing Souls
Street Dogs
Whole Wheat Bread
Black Cat
So this was 'The Gold Tour' but for me it was like the old tour, since going to punk shows in general makes me feel old. [Although not as old as the Bouncing Souls, considering that the first time I saw them was my freshman year of high school and my mom drove us to Emporium for the show (Weston and the Bouncing Souls - I got this patch at that show and it's still on my bag 14 years later).] I had to work until 8:15 and couldn't find a parking space until well after 9, so I missed The World/Inferno Friendship Society. Based on this description, I will definitely have to see them next time around.
Whole Wheat Bread are interesting. They played as a 3-piece - their myspace lists one of their members as 'currently incarcerated'. Punk rock meets dirty south, YEEAH!
Street Dogs features former members of Dropkick Murphys and Mighty Mighty Bosstones (again with the old for me - I saw Mighty Mighty Bosstones last my senior year of high school; Dropkick Murphys in early college). Their singer is a Boston firefighter and they gave a nice dedication to the Baltimore firefighter who was killed a few days ago in the line of duty. The singer is also a veteran who twice served in Iraq and they had some guys from VAIW at their merch table. I did not think as highly of their shilling for satellite radio. It was a good set though. I like music that is about something real that doesn't want to make me stab myself in the ear, Hinder.
Finally, around 11:15 the Bouncing Souls finally came out to Springsteen's 'Born to Run' (well, they are from NJ).

I did have fun though. Quite a different experience than past times at the Black Cat.
