HIMSA
Ottobar
So even though I was tired and hungry, I headed up to good ol bawlmor for this show because I really wanted to see HIMSA and because I'd already purchased the ticket. I got there just as A Life Once Lost was finishing up. They had some kind of projection thing going on, for which all the lights in the main space had been turned off. Only they didn't turn any lights back on while HIMSA was setting up, so it was exceptionally dark. Ottobar metal shows always have kinda weird crowds and this was no exception - ranging between well-groomed hipster college cuties and straight up rednecks who were complaining about all the 'crackheads' in the neighborhood, which - you're in BALTIMORE schmoe, not Beverly Hills. Sheesh. Anyway, HIMSA finally came on in all their neck-tattooed Seattle glory. I thought it was awesome, even though a lot of people were just standing around looking bored. And of course nobody caught Johnny when he jumped out of the balcony. Lame. Towards the end of the set a few people worked up a mosh pit, but the crowd was mostly static and blah. I didn't feel like sticking around for Darkest Hour at all, so I just went to get food and then to bed. I wish I hadn't been so tired, because I would have liked to drink with these guys. Derek has pretty hair. That is all.
